This bill requires state-owned parking facilities with 50 or more spaces to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, with the number of charging stations varying based on the total parking spaces available. Specifically, parking facilities with 50-200 spaces must install EV charging stations in at least 10% of their spaces, while facilities with over 200 spaces must install charging stations in at least 20% of their spaces. The Office of General Services will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing the EV charging equipment, with the ability to contract licensed electricians if needed. If electrical system upgrades are necessary to support the charging stations, the Office of General Services will be responsible for increasing the electrical capacity, ensuring that any contracted work complies with labor laws, including paying prevailing wages. The bill is designed to promote electric vehicle infrastructure on state properties and make EV charging more accessible to state employees and the public.
