This resolution recognizes and commends the Howard University Alumni Club of Atlanta, a long-standing organization of Howard University graduates in the Greater Atlanta Metropolitan area. Established over 60 years ago, the alumni club has been dedicated to the university's motto of "truth and service" by raising substantial scholarship funds for deserving students, conducting annual four-day bus trips to introduce Georgia high school students to Howard University (referred to as the "Mecca"), and maintaining one of the nation's finest mentoring programs. The resolution highlights the club's significant role in recruiting students, noting that many participants have gone on to become servant leaders, and acknowledges the distinguished alumni from Georgia, including civil rights leaders like Ambassador Andrew Young and Hank Thomas, as well as former Atlanta mayors who are Howard University graduates. The resolution formally recognizes the organization's outstanding contributions and directs the Senate Secretary to provide an official copy of the resolution to the Howard University Alumni Club of Atlanta.
