This resolution honors Mrs. Emma Lou Stover by dedicating a bridge on State Route 52 East over Owl Town in Gilmer County, Georgia, in recognition of her extensive community service. The resolution highlights her significant contributions, including her work with the Elijay Lions Club, where she organized fundraisers for surgeries for the visually impaired, purchased Christmas gifts for those in need, and provided scholarships; her founding of the Special Friends Program in 1989 to support individuals with mental and physical disabilities; and her advocacy for veterans through participation in the annual community Veterans Day parade. The Georgia General Assembly formally resolves that the bridge shall be named the Emma Lou Stover Bridge, and directs the Department of Transportation to erect and maintain appropriate signage marking the dedication. Additionally, the resolution instructs the House of Representatives' Clerk to provide copies of the resolution to Mrs. Stover and the Department of Transportation, thus officially commemorating her lifetime of community service and philanthropy.
