This resolution establishes the House Study Committee on Expanding Home Ownership Opportunities for Georgians to address concerns about the increasing difficulty for Georgians to own homes, noting Georgia's high risk for housing market disruptions and the significant presence of corporate landlords and out-of-state institutional investors in the single-family rental market, which has driven up median home prices. The committee will consist of seven members of the House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker, who will also designate a chairperson, and will be tasked with studying these housing issues and recommending any necessary actions or legislation. The committee members will receive allowances for their service, funded by the House of Representatives, and are required to file a report of their findings and recommendations, approved by a majority vote, with the Clerk of the House by December 1, 2026, when the committee will be abolished.
