This bill amends the New York State Highway Law to adjust the rate paid by the state to cities for maintenance and repair of state highways. Specifically, the bill changes the existing payment structure by replacing the fixed payment rates with a dynamic rate that increases annually based on the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) for the New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island region. The rate for pavement maintenance will now be set at two dollars and forty-seven cents per square yard for standard pavement areas, with an additional twenty cents per square yard for elevated bridge areas.
