This bill expands the Vermont National Guard Tuition Benefit Program by allowing members to pursue graduate degrees or a second baccalaureate degree, in addition to the existing undergraduate tuition benefits. Under the program, eligible Vermont National Guard members can receive tuition coverage at Vermont state colleges, private institutions, and out-of-state schools for degree programs not available in Vermont. To qualify, members must be active National Guard members who have completed basic training and meet academic progress requirements. The Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) will administer the program, and educational institutions must charge in-state tuition rates to participating members. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2025, offering expanded educational opportunities for Vermont National Guard members.
