AI Summary

This bill amends the Georgia Judicial Retirement System to include full-time judges of the Georgia Tax Court as members of the retirement system, effective July 1, 2026. Under the bill, these Tax Court judges can transfer their creditable service from the Employees' Retirement System of Georgia to the Judicial Retirement System within one year of membership, provided they pay the full actuarial cost of the transfer. The judges will be subject to the same retirement provisions as solicitors-general of state courts, with their earnable monthly compensation defined as their full regular monthly state-funded compensation. Additionally, other employees of the Georgia Tax Court will be treated according to existing provisions for new state agency employees. The bill includes a funding contingency, meaning it will only become effective if it is concurrently funded as required by the Public Retirement Systems Standards Law; if not fully funded, the act will be automatically repealed on July 1, 2026.
