This bill establishes the North Carolina Broadband Assistance Program to help low-income families afford broadband internet service, administered by the Department of Commerce. The program allows providers to terminate assistance if an account becomes 45 days past due. The bill appropriates $250 million in nonrecurring funds for the 2025-2026 fiscal year to support the program, which will become effective on July 1, 2025.
