This resolution honors and commends the Loretto High School boys' basketball team for winning the 2025 Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Division I, Class AA state championship. The Mustangs achieved a perfect 35-0 season, becoming the first state champion in Lawrence County history to go undefeated and only the second boys' basketball team from the county to win a state championship. The team won the state title in a thrilling overtime game against Alcoa with a score of 68-66, after successfully advancing through regional and sectional tournaments by defeating several opponents. The resolution recognizes the team's 17 players, including seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen, as well as Head Coach Greg Tipps and his assistant coaches. It highlights the team's exceptional performance, character, and dedication, praising them not only for their athletic achievement but also for embodying the best qualities of student-athletes.
