This resolution pays tribute to the life and legacy of Lana Kay Andrews, a philanthropic and community-oriented woman from Dallas who passed away on March 16, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in Corpus Christi to Patty and Milton Fischer, Andrews was married to her high school sweetheart, Barry Andrews, for 56 years until his death in 2023, and they had two children, Natalie and Blake, and four grandchildren. Together, they founded Andrews Distributing in 1976 and became significant philanthropists, particularly supporting the American Cancer Society, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and the Cattle Baron's Ball. Andrews was actively involved in community organizations, serving on the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health National Advisory Board, being a member of The Crystal Charity Ball, and supporting cardiology research at UT Southwestern Medical Center. The resolution honors her warm personality, her commitment to faith through Highland Park United Methodist Church, and her love for family, sports, and social activities. The Texas House of Representatives unanimously adopted this resolution to commemorate her life, extend condolences to her family, and preserve her memory.
