This bill provides a specific exception to standard civil service employment rules to allow Andriel Santana, who is currently a full-time correctional officer at the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of deputy sheriff. Despite potential existing restrictions in section 58 of the civil service law, Santana will be permitted to sit for the exam and, based on his performance, potentially be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-time deputy sheriff.
