This bill appropriates a total of $27,850,000 in nonrecurring funds from the General Fund for the 2025-2026 fiscal year to support various public projects in Chatham County's towns of Siler City and Pittsboro. For Siler City, the bill allocates $2,450,000 for a Downtown Streetscape Project, which includes running underground power lines, widening sidewalks for outdoor dining, and hiring a main street coordinator. An additional $10,400,000 is designated for replacing the town's condemned recreational building and improving recreational facilities, including $10 million for a new recreational facility and $400,000 for improvements to Bray Soccer Stadium. The bill also provides $5 million for Siler City to design and build a new fire station. For Pittsboro, $10 million is allocated to enhance emergency fire services, specifically $7 million for a new fire station, $1.8 million for a new ladder truck, and $1.2 million for a new fire engine. All funds will be managed by the Office of State Budget and Management, and the act becomes effective on July 1, 2025.
