AI Summary

This bill makes several changes to Florida's health care and cancer research programs. It repeals an existing section of law related to health care innovation and modifies the Casey DeSantis Cancer Research Program by requiring the Cancer Connect Collaborative to annually develop and submit a comprehensive plan to the Governor and Legislature. The plan must now include input from specialty children's hospitals and expand grant fund opportunities for these hospitals. The bill also adds pediatric cancer to the list of cancer types that must be analyzed in annual mortality rate reports. Additionally, the bill removes a provision that made audit report results automatically definitive and prohibits administrative costs for hospital directed payment programs from being included in allowable expenses for managed care plans. The changes are set to take effect on July 1, 2025, and aim to improve cancer research, funding, and reporting in Florida, with a particular focus on expanding opportunities for pediatric cancer research and treatment.
