This bill amends the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law to establish new requirements for retailers selling gift cards and gift certificates to help prevent scams. The Bureau of Consumer Protection will create a model notice to be made available online. The bill also provides detailed definitions for terms like "gift card," "gift certificate," and "retailer," and will take effect 90 days after passage. The goal is to protect consumers from increasingly prevalent gift card scams by mandating proactive measures and education.
