This resolution honors the life and public service of Jim Soletski, a Wisconsin state representative who served two terms in the Assembly representing the 88th District as a Democrat. Born in Green Bay in 1948 to John and Caroline Soletski, Jim was educated at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and Stevens Point, where he earned a bachelor's degree in education. Throughout his career, he worked in the energy industry as a senior analyst at the Kewaunee Power Station and was actively involved in community organizations like Al-Anon and JOSHUA (Justice Organization Sharing Hope & United for Action). During his time in the Wisconsin State Assembly, he held leadership roles on several committees, including chair of the Assembly Committee on Energy and Utilities and vice chair of the Assembly Committees on Consumer Protection and Elections and Campaign Reform. He was also known for his passionate advocacy for Native American culture and served on the 2008 Special Committee on State-Tribal Relations. The resolution acknowledges his personal life as a loving father and grandfather and recognizes his passing on August 20, 2024, at the age of 75, remembering him for his quick wit, empathy, and dedicated public service.
