The bill specifically authorizes the town of Brookhaven's assessor to accept a late application for a tax exemption under section 420-a of the real property tax law for a specific parcel located at 105 Station Road in Bellport. If the application is accepted and approved by the town board, the assessor can make corrections to the tax rolls. If the church has already paid taxes for the property, the town board may refund those taxes or cancel any remaining taxes, fines, penalties, liens, or interest. This bill provides a retroactive remedy for the church to obtain a tax exemption it would have been eligible for if it had filed the application by the original deadline.
