The third offense, "Menacing a child protective services worker," involves intentionally placing a social services employee in reasonable fear of physical injury or death by displaying a weapon while the worker is performing official duties, and is classified as a class D felony. These new provisions aim to provide additional legal protections for child protective services workers who are often in potentially dangerous situations while investigating child welfare cases.
