This bill establishes the Commission on Children's Vision, a joint administrative commission under the Department of Education and Department of Health, with the primary goal of improving children's access to vision care across Pennsylvania. The commission will consist of the Secretaries of Education and Health (or their designees) and at least twelve vision care professionals from local nonprofit organizations, who will be appointed to staggered three-year terms. The commission will be supported administratively by the Department of Education and Department of Health, which will provide staff, data, and an executive director to oversee students' glasses needs. The implementation of this commission is contingent upon legislative appropriations and may also accept grants and donations from public and private sources to fund its activities.
