This bill amends Louisiana Revised Statutes 56:306.5(B) to modify requirements for commercial fishing receipts. Currently, when a wholesale or retail seafood dealer purchases fish from a commercial fisherman, they must complete a three-part receipt form signed by both parties. The bill changes the timing of receipt transmission, requiring dealers to give the commercial fisherman's copy within 24 hours of the transaction (instead of immediately at the time of sale) and also mandates that dealers transmit their copy to the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries within 24 hours. The bill specifies that dealers must record detailed information on the receipt, including their own name and license number, the fisherman's name, license number and signature, transaction date, species details (identification, quantity, size, condition), unit price, and any relevant permit numbers. These changes aim to standardize and expedite the documentation process for commercial fish sales while ensuring comprehensive record-keeping for regulatory purposes.
