This bill modifies the composition and operations of the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission by restructuring its membership and creating a new dispute resolution panel. These three public members must be either retired judges or attorneys with at least 10 years of legal experience who have never been licensed by the commission. The bill also slightly modifies the definition of "satellite warranty and repair center" to create a specific exception for certain manufacturers or distributors who, as of January 1, 2024, were licensed to lease motor vehicles and do not have franchised motor vehicle dealers in the state. The changes aim to provide a more structured and specialized approach to resolving automotive industry disputes while maintaining representation from various automotive sector professionals.
