This bill establishes specific rules for the composition of the parish executive committee for a recognized political party in East Baton Rouge Parish. The executive committee will now be comprised of twelve members elected from each councilmanic district, five members elected at-large from the parish, and several ex officio members. These ex officio members include all local legislative delegation members of the specified political party, as well as statewide elected officials, Public Service Commission members, and State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education members who are registered to vote in East Baton Rouge Parish and are members of the political party. The bill specifies that these ex officio members (or their designated representatives) will have full voting rights, count towards establishing a quorum, and have the same privileges and responsibilities as elected members. Any designee must meet the same qualifications as regular members and can serve during the term of the official they are representing, with the potential for removal according to existing regulations.
