This bill amends existing Louisiana law regarding the use of monies in the East Baton Rouge Parish Enhancement Fund by modifying how $100,000 of the fund's annual allocation is used. Specifically, instead of being allocated to the Baton Rouge Sports Foundation with restrictions on executive director salary, the funds will now be given to Visit Baton Rouge to promote athletic activities, facilities, and sporting events aimed at attracting visitors to East Baton Rouge Parish. The bill maintains the existing provisions that $100,000 of the fund is annually designated for urban mass transit purposes, and the remainder of the funds will continue to be available for the Riverside Centroplex Arena and Exhibition Center. The bill also preserves the existing requirements that any unexpended monies remain in the fund at the end of the fiscal year and that the fund's monies be invested by the state treasurer in the same manner as the state general fund, with any earned interest deposited into the state general fund. The legislation will become effective upon the governor's signature or as specified in the Louisiana Constitution.
