Bill Summary
AN ACT to amend the veterans' services law, in relation to availability of information on home care services
AI Summary
This bill authorizes the Department of Veterans' Services to collaborate with federal and state agencies, including the Department of Health and the Office for the Aging, as well as other experts in home and community-based services (HCBS), to create and share educational materials for veterans and their families. These materials will inform them about how to access HCBS, which are services that allow individuals to receive care in their own homes or communities rather than in institutions, and will include information on programs like the federal Veteran-Directed Home and Community Based Services program (VD-HCBS). The bill also allows for the development of dedicated websites and printed materials, with information to be updated annually, and permits the department to consult with home care stakeholders to ensure the effectiveness of these resources. Furthermore, local veterans' service agencies will be empowered to post and distribute these educational materials developed by the department.
