This bill amends the General Municipal Law to expand the Tompkins County Industrial Development Agency (TCIDA) from a maximum of seven members to nine members. Currently, industrial development agencies in New York are typically limited to seven members, but this bill specifically authorizes the Tompkins County Legislature to appoint two additional members to the agency. Industrial development agencies are local government entities designed to promote economic development by providing financial and logistical support to businesses in their region. The TCIDA will continue to have the same powers and responsibilities as other industrial development agencies in the state, including the ability to acquire property and support local economic growth, but will now have a slightly larger board of nine members instead of the standard seven. The bill will take effect immediately upon passage, allowing the Tompkins County Legislature to expand the agency's membership right away.
