The funds can support various activities, including offering alternatives to PRC initiatives in health, digital, and energy sectors, bolstering civil society and media to counter PRC influence, diversifying supply chains away from the PRC, providing alternatives to PRC development aid, supporting Taiwan's diplomatic presence, offering U.S. or allied alternatives for information technology infrastructure, strengthening partner countries' resilience against PRC propaganda, and mitigating specific vulnerabilities to PRC coercion related to Taiwan. No single country can receive more than $5 million per year, and the Secretary of State will oversee the implementation, coordinating with Taiwan and encouraging cost-sharing. The bill also requires annual reports to Congress on the activities funded and any contributions from Taiwan.
