This resolution honors and commends the Bleyzer Program at Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute (MBMHI), a psychiatric hospital in Chattanooga serving fifty-two counties in East Tennessee. Established in 2020, the Bleyzer Program is an innovative psychiatric rehabilitation initiative designed to help long-term inpatient patients develop independent living skills and prepare for community reintegration. Using a "community living" approach, the program helps patients develop coping skills, build confidence, and work toward individual goals by completing chores, planning meals, and practicing community interactions. The program has been highly successful, with thirty-six patients graduating and only three briefly returning for medication adjustments or placement needs. Recognized by The Rutgers Institute for Inpatient Psychiatric Rehabilitation with their first annual IIPR Award, the program embodies the mission to "Blaze new trails back into the community through facilitation and practice of vocation, support, and knowledge of recovery." The resolution specifically acknowledges the dedicated staff members John Gonzales, Arlisa Good, Spring Hughes, and Anthony Johnson, and expresses best wishes for the program's continued success in serving the people of East Tennessee.
