This resolution pays tribute to the memory of Dr. William Peter Kuvlesky Jr., a distinguished wildlife researcher and educator from Kingsville, Texas, who passed away on March 8, 2025, at the age of 67. Born in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, Kuvlesky was a graduate of Texas A&M University with degrees in wildlife and fisheries sciences, who worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service before joining Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 1999 as an assistant professor and research scientist. Throughout his 25-year academic career, he made significant contributions to avian ecology research, authored numerous publications, and mentored many students, eventually becoming the interim and then permanent assistant dean of the Dick and Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The resolution honors his professional achievements and personal qualities, extending deepest condolences to his wife Vanessa, daughter Catelyn, mother Eileen, siblings, and other family members, and formally requests that an official copy of the resolution be prepared for his family, with the Texas House of Representatives adjourning in his memory.
