Specifically, the study will examine criteria that would demonstrate an individual's competency to effectively teach their subject matter, including analyzing the types of credentials needed, years of professional experience, breadth of expertise, and potential combinations of these factors. The researchers will also provide recommendations on how to implement a new licensure path for individuals who meet the study's proposed criteria. The bill will become effective on July 1, 2025, and the findings will be reported to the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee, with the ultimate goal of potentially creating more flexible pathways for industry professionals to transition into teaching CTE subjects in high schools.
