This resolution honors Dorothy Steffen, who will celebrate her 100th birthday on October 6, 2025, by recognizing her life's journey and achievements. Born in Cuba, Missouri, in 1925 as the youngest of six children, Steffen grew up on a family farm and feed mill before moving to Rolla, Missouri, where she graduated high school and took secretarial classes. She married Lee Steffen, a Missouri Synod Lutheran minister, in 1945, and together they moved to various locations including Clearwater, Nebraska, and Spencer, Iowa, where they raised four sons. The couple served a church in Lakeland, Florida, for 24 years before retiring to Franklin, North Carolina. After her husband's passing in 2008, Steffen lived independently until a fall in 2023 prompted her move to Tennessee to live with her son Paul. The resolution celebrates her life as a devoted homemaker, pastor's wife, mother, and grandmother, noting that she now resides in Lebanon, Tennessee, and has nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. The Tennessee House of Representatives and Senate aim to honor her milestone birthday and wish her continued success and happiness.
