This resolution congratulates Landon McNamara for winning the 11th Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational, a prestigious surfing competition known as the "Super Bowl of Surfing" that honors the legacy of Eddie Aikau, a legendary Hawaiian lifeguard. The event, which only occurs when waves at Waimea Bay reach at least 40 feet, celebrates the courage and skill of surfing competitors. McNamara, a North Shore native, won the competition on December 22, 2024, overcoming injuries and fatigue to achieve his childhood dream, scoring a remarkable 135.80 points, including a perfect 50-point ride in the second round. Beyond his surfing achievements, McNamara is also recognized as a musician who uses his platform to inspire others to pursue their dreams. The Hawaii House of Representatives formally acknowledges his accomplishment, extends warm congratulations, and wishes him continued success in his future endeavors.
