This bill provides funding and authorization for Phase 2 of a multiuse trail project connecting Itasca State Park to the Heartland Trail in Minnesota. Specifically, the bill appropriates $6,250,000 from bond proceeds to the commissioner of natural resources to acquire land and construct a paved trail segment. The trail will begin approximately two miles east of the Heartland Trail Phase 1 tunnel near Highway 71 and extend toward the city of Emmaville. The appropriation also covers environmental review, predesign, design, and construction of the trail, including a trailhead in Emmaville at the trail junction.
