This resolution recognizes April 15, 2025, as Wilson County Day at the State Capitol, celebrating the rich history and contributions of Wilson County, Texas. Located on the upper coastal plain of South Texas, the county was originally inhabited by Native Americans and later settled by Spanish explorers, Anglo settlers, and European immigrants from Germany and Poland. Established on February 13, 1860, and named after legislator James C. Wilson, the county encompasses communities like Floresville (the current county seat), Sutherland Springs, Poth, Stockdale, La Vernia, and Pandora. The county is known for its significant agricultural production, including crops like peanuts, hay, sorghum, wheat, corn, watermelons, peaches, and pecans, as well as livestock such as cattle, dairy, hogs, and poultry. The resolution honors the county's residents and their ongoing efforts to preserve their heritage while building a promising future, and formally welcomes the Wilson County delegation to the Texas State Capitol on this special day.
