This bill amends the vehicle and traffic law to allow seniors aged 65 and older, as well as individuals with mobility impairments (as certified by a physician), to operate or ride as a passenger on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) to access and exit specific public lands designated for ice fishing during the permitted ice fishing season. These lands include wildlife management areas, state forests, forest preserves, and state parks where snowmobile use is already authorized. The ATV use is strictly limited to traveling to and from ice fishing locations, providing increased access for older adults and people with physical limitations who might otherwise find it challenging to reach ice fishing sites. By creating this exception, the bill aims to make ice fishing more accessible to populations who may have difficulty navigating these terrains through traditional means.
