This bill amends Louisiana Revised Statute 6:333(F)(13) to expand the circumstances under which banks and their affiliates can legally disclose financial records. Specifically, the bill adds a new provision allowing financial records to be disclosed in response to a subpoena issued by the state inspector general or a staff member designated by the inspector general. Previously, banks could disclose financial records in connection with federal or state grand jury proceedings or state criminal investigations under specific legal procedures. The bill maintains existing protections while creating an additional avenue for financial record disclosure through the state inspector general's office. This change appears designed to provide the inspector general with greater investigative tools for examining financial records as part of their oversight responsibilities. The bill will take effect on August 1, 2025, giving financial institutions time to adjust to the new disclosure requirements.
