This bill establishes a three-year pilot program run by the Georgia Department of Public Health, in collaboration with the Department of Education, to provide dietetics services to students in public elementary and secondary schools and patients at federally qualified health centers (medical facilities that provide primary care to underserved communities). The program, which will begin on June 30, 2026, will offer up to five dietitian visits per eligible recipient, with each visit reimbursed at a rate of up to $200. A dietitian is defined as a licensed professional with at least one year of experience practicing dietetics. The department is required to submit annual reports to the Governor and General Assembly evaluating the program's effectiveness and providing recommendations for potential expansion or permanence. The pilot program is set to automatically terminate on June 30, 2029, at which point the legal provision will be repealed.
