AI Summary

This bill establishes a comprehensive set of regulations and definitions related to sex, gender, and various social policies in North Carolina. First, it officially defines biological sex and related terms, recognizing only two sexes (male and female) based on reproductive characteristics present at birth. The bill introduces a new section to prevent sexual exploitation by requiring online entities to verify the age and consent of individuals in pornographic images, with strict verification processes and potential civil penalties for non-compliance. It also restricts state funding for gender transition procedures for minors and prisoners, extends the statute of limitations for malpractice claims related to gender transition, and allows students to be excused from classroom activities that conflict with their religious beliefs. Additionally, the bill provides parents with more access to library book information and requires schools to establish policies that prevent students from sharing sleeping quarters with members of the opposite biological sex, except under specific circumstances. The legislation aims to provide clarity around sex and gender definitions, protect minors and women from potential exploitation, and give parents more control over their children's educational and personal experiences, all while aligning with what the bill describes as "biological reality" and a recently issued executive order.
