Bill Summary
AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to parking infractions
AI Summary
This bill modifies the vehicle and traffic law regarding parking violations by changing the conditions under which a parking ticket can be dismissed due to incomplete or incorrect information. Currently, if a notice of violation is missing, misdescribed, or illegible, the violation would only be dismissed upon the request of the person charged with the violation. The proposed change would allow for automatic dismissal of the violation if any required information is omitted, misdescribed, or illegible, without requiring the charged person to file a specific application. This modification provides a more lenient approach to parking ticket infractions by removing the burden from the individual to actively seek dismissal and instead making the dismissal automatic when documentation errors are present. The bill would take effect 90 days after becoming law and would apply to parking violation notices issued on or after that date.
