This resolution honors Harry R. Anderson, a remarkable adventurer from Bainbridge Island, Washington, who achieved unprecedented solo flying and sailing feats. Specifically, on January 29, 2025, Anderson became the first person in history to both fly and sail solo to all seven continents, completing two solo circumnavigations of the globe in his single-engine Lancair Columbia 300 airplane (flying eastbound in 2011 and westbound in 2019) and a 350-day, 38,000 nautical mile voyage on his 43-foot sailboat named Phywave. Notable accomplishments include becoming only the fifth person to fly solo to all seven continents after landing in Antarctica on January 31, 2014, and completing a 10.5-hour transpolar flight over the North Pole from Canada to Norway on July 16, 2018. The Washington State House of Representatives recognizes Anderson's courageous achievements as an inspiration to adventurers in Washington and worldwide, and officially resolves to honor his extraordinary accomplishments by transmitting a copy of the resolution directly to him.
