This resolution honors Greeneville and Greene County, Tennessee for being named one of the top ten micropolitan areas in the nation by Site Selection Magazine, recognizing their significant economic development achievements. A micropolitan area is defined as a region with cities containing 10,000 to 50,000 citizens, and in this case, Greeneville and Greene County were specifically recognized for their business expansions, particularly at the former Greene Valley Developmental Center, which has brought substantial capital investment and increased employment opportunities to the area. The resolution highlights the community's commitment to economic growth and its success in being ranked in the top three micropolitan areas in Tennessee and the top seventy nationally. By passing this resolution, the Tennessee General Assembly (the state legislature) officially commends the local citizens and leaders for their efforts in maintaining the area's economic vitality and historical legacy, and extends best wishes for continued success, growth, and prosperity. The resolution also includes a provision for preparing an official copy of the document for presentation upon request.
