This resolution honors Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, a young activist and University of Washington student from Seattle who was tragically killed on September 6, 2024, while witnessing events in the Middle East. Born in Turkey but raised in Seattle, Eygi was a dedicated social and environmental activist who organized peaceful protests against xenophobia, supported marginalized communities, worked with children with autism, and engaged in global humanitarian and environmental projects. She was passionate about human rights, volunteering to help refugees and immigrants, and had planned to pursue a Ph.D. in anthropology to continue serving immigrant communities. In recognition of her extraordinary commitment to social justice, peace, and sustainability, the University of Washington Middle East Center established a public lecture series in her name. The House of Representatives posthumously recognizes Eygi's remarkable legacy of activism and instructs the Chief Clerk to transmit a copy of the resolution to her family, honoring her inspiring work in fighting for social and environmental justice.
