If an entity or official does not have its own website, the required financial information must be posted on the website of a relevant professional association, such as the Association of County Commissions, League of Municipalities, Administrative Office of Courts, Office of Prosecution Services, or Alabama Sheriffs Association, depending on the type of entity. The Chief Examiner of the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts will prescribe the specific rules for publishing this financial information, with the goal of increasing transparency about how public funds are being used. The bill will take effect on October 1, 2025, giving government entities and officials time to prepare for the new reporting requirement.
