This resolution honors Valerie Knoblauch upon her retirement on May 31, 2025, after 41 years of distinguished service as Director of Tourism for Ontario County, also known as President & CEO of Finger Lakes Visitors Connection. Hired in 1984 as the county's first tourism director, Knoblauch established herself as a respected leader in tourism at local, state, and national levels, serving on numerous councils and boards including the Governor's Tourism Advisory Council and US Travel's board. Throughout her career, she significantly contributed to the growth of the tourism industry in the Finger Lakes region, helping to increase traveler spending in Ontario County by nearly 12% in 2023, resulting in a $341 million economic impact. Knoblauch has also been a mentor to over 100 tourism professionals, served on various community boards, and received multiple awards, including the New York State Tourism Industry Association Excellence in Leadership Career and Lifetime Achievement Award. The resolution recognizes her educational background, leadership, and profound impact on enhancing the visitor experience and economic vitality of Ontario County, and formally honors her upon her retirement.
