AI Summary

This bill amends The Fiscal Code by modifying the rules for claiming abandoned and unclaimed property held by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Specifically, the bill increases the threshold for the State Treasurer to automatically pay or deliver property to its owner from $500 to $10,000, based on the original property report. Under the new provision, if a report identifies a single owner and the property or its proceeds are valued under $10,000, the State Treasurer can directly return the property without requiring the owner to file a separate claim form. The bill will take effect 60 days after its enactment, and it also includes a provision repealing a section related to the Department of Environmental Protection's use of federal money for a solar program. The change aims to simplify the process for retrieving smaller amounts of unclaimed property, potentially making it easier for property owners to reclaim their assets.
