Marilyn Holmes, serving as the first permanent archivist for the Public Records Commission, has worked diligently to preserve county documents, collaborating closely with the commission to determine which records should be maintained. Together with her husband Vernon, she has invested significant time meticulously cleaning and inventorying records in challenging conditions, including working in a damp basement and helping establish an efficient workspace in a newly renovated county office. Vernon has contributed his technical skills as a computer technician and used his engineering background to develop an optimal workspace layout. The resolution highlights their commitment to community service, noting that Marilyn assists researchers of all backgrounds while both have consistently gone above and beyond in their efforts to preserve Dyer County's historical documents. The Tennessee House of Representatives and Senate officially recognize and express gratitude for their remarkable public service through this resolution, which also provides for an official copy to be prepared for presentation.
