This bill requires every school entity in Pennsylvania (including school districts, charter schools, career and technical schools, and intermediate units) to display the Preamble of the United States Constitution at the entrance of each school building. The display can be in various forms, such as a mounted plaque, and may optionally include student-created artwork related to the Preamble that resulted from a student contest. The bill, known as the "Display of the Preamble Act," will go into effect 90 days after passage. By mandating this display, the bill aims to promote civic education and awareness of the foundational principles of the U.S. Constitution by ensuring students are regularly exposed to its opening statement, which outlines the core purposes and values of the United States government, such as establishing justice, ensuring domestic tranquility, providing for the common defense, and promoting the general welfare.
