This resolution recognizes and honors The Knoxville Barristers, the Young Lawyers Division of the Knoxville Bar Association, which received the 2025 John J. Duncan Sr. Award for Senior Advocacy. Comprised primarily of attorneys under 36 or in their first five years of practice, the organization has demonstrated over 25 years of dedicated service to homebound seniors in Knox County through their partnership with CAC Mobile Meals. Since the late 1990s, the Barristers have expanded from delivering meals once a month to three or four days per week, completing approximately 3,000 meal routes and 40,000 individual deliveries. Their volunteers not only provide nutritional support but also offer safety checks and social connection by consistently serving the same routes, building meaningful relationships with seniors. The resolution highlights the Barristers' commitment to community service, recognizing their tireless efforts to improve the lives of aging adults and setting an exceptional example of volunteerism and compassionate community engagement.
