This bill establishes the Hometown Teacher Grant Program (H.O.M.E. Act) to incentivize local teachers to remain teaching in their home school districts. The program provides a $500 monthly salary supplement to "eligible teachers," which are defined as students who either attended or graduated from a local school district and then return to teach in that same district. The Department of Public Instruction will oversee the program, establishing participation criteria and ensuring only qualifying teachers receive funds. Local school administrative units must submit annual lists of participating teachers, and school boards are encouraged to promote the program to high school students. The program is funded with $10 million in recurring funds for the 2025-2027 fiscal biennium.
