This bill, the Cape Fox Land Entitlement Finalization Act of 2025, aims to provide equitable treatment for the Cape Fox Village Corporation, which represents the Native Village of Saxman in Alaska. It allows Cape Fox to waive a requirement from the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) that mandates selecting land within the same township as the Native village, specifically waiving the need to select approximately 185 acres of unconveyed land. Instead, the bill authorizes Cape Fox to select and receive approximately 180 acres of Federal land within the Tongass National Forest, as depicted on a specific map. Upon Cape Fox's selection, the Secretary of the Interior will convey the surface rights of this Federal land to Cape Fox and the subsurface rights to Sealaska Corporation, a regional Native corporation, fulfilling their respective land entitlements under ANCSA. The conveyance will be subject to a public access easement for National Forest System land and any valid existing rights.
