AI Summary
This bill establishes the FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) primary care workforce initiative within the Pennsylvania Department of Health, designed to provide clinical rotation placements for medical students at FQHCs. The initiative is a voluntary program that will offer grants totaling $2,500,000 from the General Fund, with equal amounts distributed to each participating FQHC to support preceptors (supervising practitioners) and students. The bill provides detailed definitions for various medical professionals, including physicians, physician assistants, certified registered nurse practitioners, and dentists, and specifies that the program is intended for students from accredited medical colleges. Key aspects include establishing the program within one year of the bill's effective date, offering clinical rotation opportunities, and providing financial support to encourage healthcare workforce development in community health centers. The bill aims to support primary care training and potentially address healthcare workforce needs by creating structured learning opportunities in federally qualified health centers.
