During her three-year tenure at the Chicago Park District, she managed one of the largest park systems in the country, overseeing nearly 9,000 acres of parkland, 600 parks, and a team of 6,000 workers, while implementing significant transformations such as launching a new strategic plan, strengthening sustainable efforts, and improving youth employment opportunities. Her notable achievements include creating an Office of Prevention and Accountability, increasing hourly wages for seasonal workers from $17 to $19.75, and revitalizing recreational programs across Chicago's parks. Originally from Zacatecas, Mexico, and holding advanced degrees from Northwestern and Loyola Universities, Escareno is recognized for her dedication to supporting families, strengthening communities, and promoting economic growth throughout her distinguished public service career.
